Colorado Vacation

Many of you are eager to hear about my trip.  I went to Colorado.
Day 1
After a long morning flight I was starving and decided to get lunch.  I met up with my sister for Chipotle.  I got a chicken rice bowl.  www.chipotle.com  After a bowl of deliciousness, we decided to go towards Pikes Peak. www.pikes-peak.com We drove all the way to the top 14,000 feet.  The drive up was nice.  It drizzled some of the time.  Once the rain stopped we stopped to take pictures.  The view was incredible.

A gift shop was at the top and I got a magnet as a souviner. Our next stop was at the Garden of the Gods.  It was my second time going so I didn't take any pictures.  The sun started setting while we were there so, we decided to head back and get some rest before dinner.  Rock Bottom was the choice for dinner.www.rockbottom.com  I had the Laredo Burger (no cheese, no bun) with chips and drink. I must say it was great way to start the vacation.

Day 2
First thing we did was get coffee from Dazbog.  www.dazbog.com  She doesn't like Starbucks.  I am not a fan of Dazbog coffee it has no flavor.  Many people say that Starbucks tastes like it is burnt and dirty but, that is better than no flavor.  After grabbing breakfast we went to get supplies to color my hair.  Most of the day was spent coloring my hair.  Once my hair was looking pimp, we went shopping.  I didn't find anything I really wanted but, she picked up some makeup.  We starting getting hungry and decided on Hacienda for dinner.   www.haciendacolorado.com  I had a frozen margarita, chips and salsa, and Applewood-roasted carnitas tacos (no aioli, no crema limon).  This place is always incredible.
After dinner we went to bed early since the next day we would be going to Vail. www.vail.com

Day 3
We woke up and got ready for a day of travel.  We had to pack and go shopping for supplies for the trip.  We had to make sure we were stocked up with plenty of stuff for the condo and hike (jerky, trail mix, water, etc.)  The errands took a bit longer than excepted so, we didn't end up leaving until 3 in the afternoon.  It was also raining so it took a bit longer to drive.  We stopped in Breckenridge for dinner at Extreme Pizza www.extremepizza.com  I had the gluten free pizza with soy cheese, mushrooms, peperoncini, and artichokes.    The pizza was mediocre  I have had better gluten free pizza other places.  Once lunch was over, the rain had mostly stopped.  It was down to a light drizzle.  We arrived at the resort at around 7 pm.

After unloading the vehicle and choosing bedrooms we decided to do a bit of exploring in the Lionshead Village.  We really wanted to ride the gondola to the top of the mountain but, decided to wait until morning since it was getting dark and would not be able to enjoy the view.  Most of the shops were closing so, we went back to the condo and had some drinks end the evening.

Day 4
Hiking Day!!!! We got up, loaded out packs, and ate breakfast.  We decided which trails we would hike.  We had to take the gondola to the first trail since the only way to get to it was to hike up the mountain or take the gondola. The trails were not difficult at all however, it was difficult to breath at the I elevation.  These are some shots that were taken when we stopped for a snack.

We did four trails and went back to the condo.  Our condo had a full kitchen and grill so we made steaks and broccoli for dinner.

After dinner we enjoyed the view from our balcony.  We realized we had not used our vouchers for Bistro Fourteen that came with our gondola tickets and decided to use them that night for drinks.  We got dressed to head up to the restaurant at Eagles Nest.  We took the gondola to Eagles Nest ordered our drinks and went out to enjoy the sunset on the restaurant's patio.  It was a wonderful end to a wonderful day.  I started getting cold once the sun went down and, it was last call for gondola rides back down the mountain.  We rode back down enjoying the lights of the village below.

Day 5
Final Vacation Day.  Check out was at 10 am so, we had to get moving early making sure we didn't leave any of our belongings behind.  The drive back into town was clear.  No rain.  Once we got back to her house we had lunch and took a nap.  I was leaving for a red eye flight in a few hours and really need to get some sleep.  I slept for two hours.  We took a walk after our naps.  It started getting dark so, we end our evening talking about the next time we would get together.  Can't wait to go hiking again in Colorado.
